July 2013: Month in Review Part 1

July 1st-5th: Work

After work on Wednesday I went to walk around Target and came upon the final season of Gossip Girl on sale. I've been waiting to see how they find out who Gossip Girl is and I was too impatient to follow the season while it was still on the CW. Spent my Thursday off having a Gossip Girl marathon. I think my expectations were probably too high and I felt like they got lazy with their music selection. There was seriously one episode with 3-4 Frank Ocean songs! Like someone was obviously obsessed lol but I guess I can't really blame them since I love those same songs :P.

July 6th-7th: My friends from LA came down for a visit. We started the day off with lunch at Nosh Delicatessen in La Jolla. Really loved the neighborhood. It would be a great place to live if it wasn't for the traffic getting in and out of the area.

After grubbing we went kayaking. It was super fun and made me miss kayaking in the Long Beach area. The water was actually surprisingly warm. Here's a picture of all of us.

July 8th-14th: Work

After work on the 14th, we had dinner at Native Foods in Encinitas. The food was ok. I got the Indo Noodle Salad. It pretty much tastes like one of those peanut sauce salads but with a ton of greens.

July 15th-17th: Work

We had a big meeting on the 17th and it was pretty nerve racking but a customer brought me flowers for recommending an OTC product for her that worked really well. It was the first time I felt like I actually made a difference. That's the thing about being a retail pharmacist. We make a ton of recommendations daily but very rarely do we know the results of those recommendations. People don't exactly come back to the pharmacy after they feel better. It's always nice to be told that your recommendation worked :). Seriously made my whole day.

July 18th:
Had the day off and caught up on some blogging. For dinner ate at Urban Plates in Del Mar. I got the Grilled Marinated Wild Ono with Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Mac 'n Cheese. For my beverage I got the Organic Pineapple, Watermelon, Basil & Mint Urban Replenisher. It was super refreshing. I wasn't super impressed with the Wild Ono but the Brussels Sprouts were delicious. Mac n' cheese was a little too cheesy and I'm not a fan of when it feels like I'm eating melted cheese with a few macaronies in there...I know... why did you order mac 'n cheese if you don't like cheese lol.

July 19th: Work

July 20th-21st: Pearl's Birthday Weekend!
Headed down to LA Friday night. Woke up bright an early on Saturday to participate in the Color Run at the Pomona Fairplex. It was my first time doing a Color Run and the first time in a long time that I did any type of runs in general. Judy and I used to participate in a ton of 5k's when we were at UCLA but I've gotten so lazy (and busy) since entering the "real" adult world.

One of my friends since the 3rd grade happened to also be there at the race! Can't wait to see this lady get married in December!

After the run, we were all ready for some Thai grub. Thai food is thai food and we were starving so I didn't take any pictures. We then went to this place called The Ice Bar in West Covina and I got this little thing.

That about finishes the first part of July! Part 2 coming right up!

Sunday Sounds: Kings of Leon

I'm currently obsessed with (aka this song is on Repeat 1) Wait For Me by Kings of Leon. It's one of those songs where I just close my eyes and it's almost like an out of body experience. Absolutely love Kings of Leon.

Lyrics:
Gonna open my heart
Right at the scars
Listen up

Gonna do what I'm told
Go where I'm told
And listen up

Take a shot in the rain
Walk for the pain
And listen up I tried all the way...

Wait for me, wait for me
It's all better now, it's all better now
Wait for me, wait for me

Gonna soften the blow
Soften the blow
And give it up

I saw the surprise
The look in your eyes
I gave it up

Gonna be who I am
Be who I am
And give it up I tried all the way...

Wait for me, wait for me
It's all better now, it's all better now...

Haul - Brushes, Make up, and Random Home Stuff

note: I took these pictures with my phone and they look horrible. I blame my sweaty palms so I apologize in advance for how nasty they look.

Went a haulin' the other day on my day off. I've heard so much about these Real Techniques Samantha Chapman brushes. I actually had to go to 2 different Walmarts to find them so if you're in the San Diego area, they have them at the Walmart off the 805 behind Boomers. I've tried a few of them and they are ok :/. They don't shed though so that's a plus. I've only used them for a day so we'll see how I end up liking them lol.

I also bought a new "Scentsy" type wax melter thingy mabob from Better Homes and Gardens. I was really surprised that  I'm currently using the Tranquil Garden Spa and it smells absolutely heavenly! I would highly recommend it.

I stocked up on my Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Cleanser. I use this with my Clarisonic and it's done wonders for my skin. When it comes to benzoyl peroxide vs. salicylic acid, I'm a salicylic acid gal. And it doesn't bleach your stuff! I also saw the Electric Baby Lips and of course, had to get them. Also stocking up on my Goody clips 'cause mine almost have no claws left.

That's my haul for ya! Hope everyone has a happy Tuesday!

Concert: Jessie Ware

Concert: Jessie Ware at The Observatory OC

August 10, 2013

I posted this originally without saying anything about the concert because I mostly wanted the pictures and video up but I definitely wanted to come back on and say that it was an amazing concert. We actually saw Jessie Ware at Coachella and even though we were in the front row, it just wasn't the same. The Observatory is a really interesting venue. They had two different shows going on that night. The sound quality I would say is not as good as the Belly Up Tavern but the venue itself is similar in that it's a small, intimate venue.

The show itself was great. She has definitely grown as a performer and her voice sounded much smoother than at Coachella (possibly due to the weather conditions?). She's so funny :) and we thoroughly enjoyed the show. Wish we could meet her! I'm pretty sure she's a hoot!
