Haulin' - Spring 2013

I haven't gone shopping in what feels like forever! Really had to cut the spending since Coachella pretty much sucked up all my funds (ok not all my funds but I start getting freaked out when the first number on my credit card bill isn't a 1). Anywhos, is it just me or has Brandy Melville pretty much taken over? Every fricken person is shopping here... and once I found out that they actually had a store in San Diego, I had to go check it out! The most awesome part is that it's right next to Urban Outfitters (so the man in your life doesn't have to look like a total creeper). I got some cute stuff just to try their brand out. A customer actually told me that their stuff doesn't last more than a few washes (the same customer that told me that they had the store in PB) so I guess we'll see! I also got some clearance stuff at Urban.

Hope you enjoyed this haul! Cured my shopping itch for awhile. Hope everyone is having a great Mother's Day! (or not a mother's day :P)

#makeithappenMay

One of the many channels I follow on YouTube is Nikki's channel and this month, she's doing #makeithappenMay and I thought I'd join in on the fun. It's actually a super great idea! Everyone starts off the year with all these resolutions but by February, those resolutions are just a distant thought. #makeithappenMay is all about writing down your goals (maybe some failed resolutions?) and making it happen. Most of the time I separate my goals into short-term vs. long-term but I thought I'd join in on the hashtag and just jot down some of my goals for the month of May. If you click on the link to Nikki's video, she says it's our homework to think of a few goals :) lol. So lets get started.

1. Health
Eating healthy is one of those goals that always seems so far from reach. I mean we all try at the beginning of the year since we've made all these new year's resolutions but it never seems to pan out. I always say everything in moderation is the best policy but some people just inherit bad genes and need to eat a little healthier than others. We've been trying to eat a little bit healthier and to cook more meals at home and also to try and save a little bit of money in the grocery department (even though healthy foods are fricken expensive!). I'm linking some articles below that really gave me some inspiration on what healthy eats to actually try. Please feel free to share your favorite healthy recipes below! I'm seriously in dire need and Tony will thank you :D.

This was the article that inspired me to write this post. Even though I'm a healthcare professional, I'm not an expert at healthy eating so finding out some of the nutritional value of arugula and kale was pretty cool. Some recipes I plan on trying are:
The great thing about this article is that all those recipes are from other healthy eating sites where you can find even more recipes!

2. Exercise
Ever since I started working full time, I haven't had any time to work out (or I haven't made time to work out). This month, I'm hoping to make some time to get beach body ready. Here are some exercises and tips I plan on trying courtesy of R29.

3. Read
Every time I finish reading a book, I get a little depressed. I remember after finishing the 50 Shades of Grey series, I was seriously thinking, "What now?!" I just finished reading the final book of the Hunger Games and it just made me think of the world we live in today and how people are so power hungry. Just when you think there's going to be change, you find that we're just going in a big cycle. Back to where we started. Wow. That was depressing lol. Even though finishing a book might bring on that depression that no other book will ever be good enough (lol), lately I've been feeling like my brain is slowly deteriorating so I'm making an extra effort to keep it stimulated. Here's the few books I've started reading.

If you decide to join me for #makeithappenMay, please link your blog or just comment on what your goals are below! I'd love to hear from you all :) Happy Tuesday! Let's power through this week!

24 hrs in La La Land

As I mentioned in the previous post, I went back to LA for the weekend. My good friend just became a "Ross" (from Friends) Dr. and my uncle was visiting from Australia.

We got to LA late Friday evening and ended up chilling at Westside Tavern which is at Westside Pavillion. Felt really weird to be back in the Westwood area with UCLA just blocks away. It's been so long since I last visited my alma mater. Anywhos, I was so surprised as to how they've renovated Westside Pavillion! It's so nice with the parking spot alert lights (same ones they have at Century City) and the nice ass movie theatre. Tony and I only ended up having drinks 'cause we had eaten on the car ride up to LA. I nibbled on the chicken liver "mousse". OMG so good! I heard the burger is really good but I was so full I didn't get to try it.

After that we called it a night and headed back to the SGV. The next day we decided to have brunch at The Original Pantry Cafe.

So much yumes! The pancakes were so-so but I loved mixing their homemade salsa with the eggs. Definitely followed the Yelp suggestion on that one. Also wasn't expecting so many pieces of bacon O_O.

After stuffing our faces, we headed to the Grand Park.

You are about to see the most legendary picture ever lol. In the words of Drake, Thank Me Later lol.

We were practicing our hadouken-ing skills lol. Here's how the pros do it: HADOKEN.

It was a hot day and we got nice and sweaty after doing these amazing poses lol. Hope you guys enjoyed! Happy Sunday Funday!

In La La Land for the Weekend!

Hi lovers! Sorry for the lack of posts this week. Work has been so crazy. Anywho, Tony and I are in LA for the weekend visiting my family since my uncle from Australia is visiting. I will definitely be grubbing as much as I can while we're here. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Tony's friend took these pictures at Coachella for us and I just had to repost. Posting from the iPhone app so I hope there's not a ton of autocorrect errors! Love ya'lls!
