June 2013: Month in Review Part 1

June 1st-2nd: Had the first weekend of the month off. One of my friends from pharmacy school came down for the Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon so we met up for lunch at Cafe Chloe. Love the ambiance of this place. Very boho chic. The food wasn't half bad either. It was definitely pretty filling and heavy feeling. If I ever go back I'll probably opt for something on the lighter side like one of their salads. I had their Bloody Mary which was pretty good. Definitely a great place for brunch/lunch.

love the decor

charcuterie (after my drool-worthy pate experience at Westside Tavern,
I had to try the duck pate here. definitely not comparable :()

After lunch which ended up being around 4pm, we decided we may want to crash the Padres game. Unfortunately, the prices were way inflated because they were giving away jerseys that day so we decided to head over to Coronado to Candela's on the Bay for some drinks and appetizers. I absolutely love their Grilled Quesadillas which has mushrooms! Yumes for sure. Seriously has one of the best views of Downtown San Diego. Great date spot.

tamarindo martini and one of the berry drinks lol.

On Sunday, we went to the Belly Up Tavern for the Chvrches concert which you can read about here. It was quite amazing and they've become one of my favorite artists. I am seriously obsessed with the Chvrches station on Pandora.

Before the concert, we headed to Pizza Port. I wasn't overly impressed by their pizza. Tony had hyped it up a lot since I love the Pizza Hut pan pizza so much but if you couldn't tell in the picture below, it was overly cheesy and I'm not a huge fan of cheese. I mean I like cheese in moderation, not "would you like some pizza with your cheese?". I'd be down to try it again but maybe with different toppings and maybe tell them e-z on the cheese lol.

June 3rd-5th: Worked

On the 4th, a few of my coworkers and I were heading out to a comedy show which ended up being sold but that didn't stop us from enjoying the night. Tony and I had dinner at Blue Water Seafood Market and Grill which was delicious! It was actually featured in Triple D and I've been pretty weary of places featured on that show. For me, the places featured never seem to live up to the hype. We had the oyster shooters which were delish and I don't even remember what I ordered and I have no pictures either because I devoured the food almost immediately. Super fresh stuff. Yes there's a line and there's no saving a table before you get seated but seriously, a must try if you love seafood.

#truestory

My coworkers opted to head to PB for dinner instead since it was Taco Tuesday. Look at those margaritas O_O! They were seriously bigger than the size of my head. But yeah.. be prepared for a pee-fest after you're done with that mother of a drink lol.

On Wednesday after work I decided to go get my Smog Check over and done with since my car registration was due soon. Luckily I was doing this ahead of time since my car ended up failing the smog check :(.

June 6th: Off

I ended up having to take my car back to LA since I failed my smog check. Apparently I had an illegal catalytic converter in my car (since I had to replace mine since it got stolen in the Target plaza!). I had lunch with my dad and my uncle who was visiting from Australia at Pho Pasteur.

three ca-lor :P (co-co-nut miew, condenz miew.. ca-lor?)

bun bo hue (my fav)
And here's my outfit of the day:
ootd: kimono from target, save water tank from tjmaxx, jeans from american eagle

Things I miss about LA: Getting this much food for less than $10. Dear Asian business men/women: please move your businesses to San Diego so I can eat please decent Chinese food lol. We went to Ledo Cafe and for $8.95, we got this plate plus soup and a fountain drink or ice tea. Keep in mind that's a huge piece of chicken on top of my piece of steak. Can you say deals?!

June 7th-12th: Work

After work on the 8th we decided to try a new restaurant. We went to Island Style Cafe and the food was pretty good. The smoothie was absolutely delicious. Super large portions and apparently their fried rice is really good because some people came to pick up their take-out and they were completely devastated (I'm not even exaggerating) that they

Came home from work to a new 3DS and Animal Crossing. Carpel tunnel here I come! (totally not kidding 'cause my wrist hurts like a mother)

Had lunch at Arely's French Bakery. Food is good and not to filling. Makes you feel full but not sluggish. Twas yumes!

June 13th: Off

Drove back to LA again to fix my car since they were apparently going to "buy" the part for me which meant they just went to a difference place to get the smog check done. Went to my old stomping grounds: my old high school. Can't believe it's been 10 years.

June 14th: Work

That's it for now! Trying to catch up now that July is almost half over!
See you guys soon!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Haul & Wants

So yesterday was the first day for Nordstrom's Early Access to the Anniversary Sale and of course since I got out of work early, I went to check it out. I apologize in advance if the links below don't work and you'll also need to be logged in to your Nordstrom's account to access the Anniversary Sale.

Here are some of the items I ended up purchasing:

I ended up buying this Caslon Cotton Knit Blazer. I had no idea they even have a petite version! Trying to see whether I should return the one I bought and buy this online. Plus I could get 5% cash back with Ebates!

Ebates Coupons and Cash Back

I figured with it being summer and it's absolutely freezing at work, this blazer can be paired with some tanks so that as soon as I leave work, I'll be able to just take off the jacket. And it's something that I can wear outside of work as well!

I bought some 2 tops that I could wear for work and outside of work. The first is this Olivia Moon Print Mixed Media Top with blue and red triangles.

Here's the other top I bought. Kind of has that hounds-tooth feel but geometric. It's very much a sweater material so it feels casual on the skin but the print elevates the look.

bobeau print raglan sleeve sweatshirt in black/grey - $35.90 (link)

I didn't get to check out the Juniors section yesterday but I saw some cute stuff online that I'm still deciding on. Here are some of the items that I found online that I'm lusting over:

Only Mine Cashmere Blend Crewneck Sweater. Really liked this sweater with the little tiger on it but the price was a bit too steep. It looked super nice but I can't get myself to spend $70 on a sweater.

And here's another $70 sweater lol.

May 2013: Month in Review Part 2

May 13th-15th: Work

After work on the 15th, a friend of mine was in San Diego for Western States Conference so we went to Seaport Village to Sally's for lunch.

king crab sandwich - so effing good

May 16th: We went on our second little movie date. Again, this was after happy hour at Islands. This time we saw The Great Gatsby. Now, I never read the book (I only Spark Noted it all through high school :X), but I liked the movie. The cinematography is very much like Moulin Rouge being that it was directed by Baz Luhrmann. I feel like it's one of those movies my friends and I would have watched on one of our movie dates because it's a movie that kind of makes you think.

vodka tonic and a mojito

May 17th: On the 17th after work we headed out to the Padres game. It was my first Padres game and also my first time at Petco Park. It's a very nice park; very reminiscent of AT&T Park in San Francisco.

We were pretty wasted but this screen shot definitely the extent to how out of it we were lol.

May 18th-19th: Work

I worked the weekend but after work on the 18th, we went to check out this new AYCE Korean BBQ place with my coworker. We ordered small intestine and I honestly didn't even expect them to bring out the tubey kind of intestines but it totally made my coworker lose her appetite lol. I have this funny video of her just cringing as the juices are just gushing out of the tubing.

May 20th: Off. Just vegged out for the entire day.

May 21st-24th: Work

Had work in the morning and rushed back to LA to attend a friend's graduation at CSULB. First, we went out to grab lunch at Savoy Kitchen. I missed me some bomb Hainan Chicken.

At the graduation. Missing all the times we graduated but definitely not missing school :P.

No graduation photo shoot is complete with out a jumpy picture!

May 25th-26th: Off

My cousins came down for Memorial Day weekend and we ended up hiking to the potato chip rock aka the Mount Woodson Trail. Tough hike for a beginner (and I would consider myself as someone that does little to no exercise lol). I would follow the Yelp suggestions such as bringing 2 water bottles. I felt super lightheaded as we were heading up and there were quite a few times where I had to just stop because I felt like I was having an asthma attack. The trail is pretty much uphill the entire way. I couldn't get myself to go on the rock because I'm extremely afraid of heights lol. Yes, I'm a scaredy cat :P.

After the hike we went to have brunch at The Beach Grass Cafe in Poway.

stuffed french toast (its stuffed with cream cheese!!)

After filling our bellies, we went back to our place and headed to the pool just to lay out and relax. We went into the hot tub to enjoy some muscle relaxation after that intense hike.

May 27th-31st: Work

It was a tough week with the holiday and all so to end the week, we celebrated with some dranks.

And that pretty much wraps up May! I shall be tackling June very soon :).
