Vroom Vroom!

Our First Cars Land Experience

This past weekend (June 30 - July 1) Tony and I decided to check out Cars Land for the first time!

tram picture (I subscribe to Birchbox and for the month of June, I was sent this headband from Modcloth. It retails for $14 from Modcloth. I decided to try it out and step a little out of my comfort zone)

another one of those "had to take a picture" moments lol

i spy one of a bajillion hidden mickeys? lol

After the racers ride we were ready for some grub so we took Judy's advice and went to get the chili and the pomegranate limeade.

pomegranate limeade con vodka lol

So Luigi's Flying Tires were down so we decided to wait for Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. The wait wasn't too long (maybe 30 minutes tops). It's similar to the Lady Bug ride in Bugs Land combined with a carnival type ride.

We were pretty much done with California Adventures after checking out the new Buena Vista Street stuff so we headed to Disneyland in search of more food lol.

no line at the corn dog stand! O_O

The lady at the corn dog stand recommended that we check out Cars Land after the sun goes down so we went back to California Adventure and checked out the neighboring Bug's Land. There were quite a few rides I haven't been on.

We decided to check out the Mad T Party.

Day 2! I really wanted to go on the racer's ride again but the wait was 120 minutes so we decided against it.

We'll be heading back soon before my pass expires! Can't wait to go on racers again!

song of the moment

santigold  - disparate youth

Don't look ahead there's stormy weather
Another road block in our way
But if we go, we go together
Our hands are tied here if we stay
Oh, we said our dreams will carry us
And if they don't fly we will run
Now we push right past to find out
How to win what they all lost

Oh-ah, Oh-ah
We know now we want more
Oh-ah, Oh-ah
A life worth fighting for
Oh-ah, Oh-ah
We know that we want more
Oh-ah, Oh-ah
A life worth fighting for

So let them say we can't do better
Lay out the rules that we can't break
They want to sit and watch it wither
Their legacy's too hard to take
Oh, we said our dreams will carry us
And if they don't fly we will run
Now we push right past to find out
How to win what they all lost

Oh-ah, Oh-ah
We know now we want more
Oh-ah, Oh-ah
A life worth fighting for
Oh-ah, Oh-ah
We know that we want more
Oh-ah, Oh-ah
A life worth fighting for

In their heads, hedging their bets, in their eyes it shows
When the beacon breaks, what then you ask and they don't know
Oh tell me that I turn my back, well, the odds all stand beneath me
And they all said I was misled, but now the odds all stand beneath me

Oh-ah, Oh-ah
They're frozen to the core
Oh-ah, Oh-ah
A life worth fighting for

Oh, we said our dreams will carry us
And if they don't fly we will run
Now we push right past to find out
How to win what they all lost

Oh-ah, Oh-ah
We know that we want more
Oh-ah, Oh-ah
A life worth fighting for
Oh-ah, Oh-ah
We know that we want more
Oh-ah, Oh-ah
A life worth fighting for

Updates

note: I originally planned to post this on Monday on my day off but never got to it

Hi friends!

I finally have a weekday off (where I actually don't feel like a total sloth) to "balance my life" (apparently Kaiser is one of those companies that allows their employees to take a day off to do that which is pretty cool). Today's errands/chores include laundry, vacuuming, uploading videos, and trying to bring this blog up to date.

I have been doing a bit of maintenance on the blog I've listed some of the major updates below.
  • About Me - I've completely revamped the page. Instead of a listing of insignificant favorites, you now get a few paragraphs sharing my thoughts on what this blog is all about and a little more background on me.
  • Concerts - This is a new addition to the site. Just a compilation of concerts I've been to. This is not a complete list since most of my older pictures from my UCLA days have disappeared but it starts from my pharmacy school days.
    • The Temper Trap - If you viewed the original Temper Trap post, you might want to take a second look. I added a clip of "Soldier On" to the page since I finally figured out how to convert MTS files to AVI files. I was going to upload the other songs I recorded as well but the sound quality is so horrible :(.
  • Goals - I half-assed an update on this page. I basically crossed off stuff that I did during the month. Definitely need to update my goals a bit but right now I'm still in limbo with some things so hopefully once everything is squared away, I can document, document, and document.
  • Adventures - This was originally just the page I had on Hawaii but I'm working on getting a page  up on our cruise to Mexico as well. I'll also be posting random trips we make to various "local" places.

I think that's about all the updates I can think of for now. Happy Hump Day everyone!

June: Palm Springs Weekend

June 9-10, 2012
We had originally planned a Palm Springs weekend for Memorial Day weekend but we had some unexpected stuff come up so we ended up postponing. I've been stressed out and still really wanted to get away for some quality r&r so we decided to do it this random weekend.

We started our Saturday morning bright and early (I've had some difficulty sleeping recently) with breakfast at Julienne, a little breakfast boutique in San Marino. They have this really good creme brulee French toast but it is definitely something that can be shared and it's also very heavy so we decided to try some other stuff on the menu.

white coconut creme tea. it smells absolutely amazing.

getaway weekend ootd: gilly hicks halter dress, 77kids cardigan, gap flats

things to do at a gas station these days lol

We were lucky enough to get a room at the JW Marriott Resort and Spa. Super relaxing with a bajillion pools. They are doing some construction so you can't go to some parts of the resort.
We couldn't check in until 3pm so we went to the outlets. We were totally wiped out afterwards.

my meal. i think this was just a regular burger lol

After lunch we packed our bags and headed to Downtown Palm Springs to get a glimpse of the traveling Marilyn Monroe statue.

in case you were wondering ;)

Before leaving Palm Springs, we made a quick stop into Cabazon. Right next to the outlets, there's this robotic dinosaur museum. We decided to make a quick stop.

It was a wonderful weekend and some much needed rest and relaxation. It was definitely much too short so hopefully we'll be able to take another short vacation soon!
