Cars Land Part 2

Cars Land Part 2

Last weekend we got early entry tickets to visit California Adventure an hour before the park opened. We got there around 7:20a. There weren't any lines to get into the park but there was already a 60 minute line for the Radiator Springs Racers ride! There were only about 10 people in the fast pass line so we decided to get the fast pass instead. The fast pass line opened right at 8am so we stood in line for about 30 minutes. Last time we got there a little past 9a and all the fast passes were gone! Crazy!

Before getting in line, I went and got myself a breakfast scramble cone.
cone #3: verde scramble cone - i absolutely love the taste of the soft pretzel bread.
they also have a bacon scramble cone. these are only available during breakfast.

no line for a picture :)

Last time we didn't get a chance to go on Luigi's Flying Tires because the wait was down for most of the day and when it finally went back up, it was a 75 minute wait so we went on it this time.

even their railings have tires. attention to detail is everywhere in cars land.

a race car bush.

Because we are the fatties that we are, we were already getting hungry so we decided
to check out the breakfast menu at Flo's V8 Cafe.

cars waffles come in the breakfast kids meal. we also ordered the brioche french toast
(which pretty much tastes like the creme brulee french toast at julienne)

After that, we decided to visit the preview center.
finally found a good version of this picture inside the preview center.
the little short film was super cute! i would highly recommend visiting if you haven't!

thought this was pretty awesome

We hadn't been on Toy Story Mania in awhile so we decided to go there next.

definitely losing my touch :( can't even get the cat anymore!

Finally, it was time to head back to Radiator Springs for some racing! Gotta love that fast & furious lol.
photobombers in the background lol. fast pass line is awesome! waited less than 15 minutes.

on the ride!

went to luigi's tires

about to race!

tony spent most of his time during the race portion making that face since
we didn't know where the camera was lol

enjoying a drink while watching the racers ride. i do enjoy a little people watching on occasion.
tried both of the beers at flo's v8 cafe. i liked the darker one more.

the new buena vista street walt & mickey

My Disneyland annual pass will be expiring soon and sadly I won't be renewing :(.
Can't afford to be forking over $700 to play. Got loans to pay... and vacations to go on lol.

Can't wait for an amazing day/night celebrating the birth of Pearl!
Thanks for reading!

March: Part 3

Here's the final part of March! Better late than never!

Mar. 19 (mon): Work

Mar. 20 (tues): Work

After work, the FF gals and I went to have dinner at the new Canoodles place on Valley. It replaced "Naga Naga Ramen" which evidently has now moved to Old Town Pasadena (if you're curious lol). It was a great night of catching up with the girls and afterwards we decided to head across the street to Salju which has shaved snow similar to Class 302 but at the same time the quality of the stuff is not the same. I would say it is probably comparable to Fluff Ice at Atlantic Square.

Mar. 21-23 (wed-fri): Work

Mar. 24 (sat): Work

Started off the weekend with the usual: Chick-fil-A. Then did some quick shopping at Marshall's and Target.  We decided to go watch The Hunger Games, which I thought was pretty good. I think whoever played Katniss did a great job. Still boggles my mind that she's also Mystiq lol.

After watching the movie, we joined Tony's family for a late lunch at Hob Nob Hill. This place was actually featured on Triple D. The food here was pretty good.

After a late lunch with his family, my cousins texted me because they were in town for the Hot Chocolate Half Marathon in San Diego and we decided to meet up near Horton Plaza. We decided to hit up Vin De Syrah. Pretty cool place to chill.

cousins :)

After having some drinks with my cousins, we headed over to Tony's friend's house where we enjoyed some tasty home cooked Vietnamese food.

my wallet got a deep cleaning courtesy of the boyfriend

Mar. 25 (sun): On Sunday, we went to Filippi's for a birthday lunch for Tony and his dad.

Mar. 26-28 (mon): Work

Mar. 29 (tues): Work &Play

Tony came  up to LA for his birthday and we celebrated by going to Disneyland and watching his cousin DJ for elecTRONica.

saw "alien secretion" and had to try it

on the left is my drink: the alien secretion
verdict: soooo delicious

elecTRONica

Grubbing after elecTRONica at ESPN Zone plus birthday goodies for the birthday boy :)

Mar. 30 (fri): Work

Before work we headed to Ray Rays for lunch. Their salad is super delicious and so are their french fries. Their salad is exactly what I would want for the salad course at a wedding. Their french fries are a cross between McDonalds and In-n-Out lol. Everything is very tasty and healthy too.

Mar. 31 (sat-sun): San Diego

Grub Crawl: Stop #1
Tacos El Gordo
(so effing delicious!)

grub crawl: stop #2

And that finishes March! Only 3 months behind on posts lol.

March: Part 2

Coachella was this past weekend and Refinery29 has posted a bunch of pictures of stylish ladies from the show. Upon browsing, I was pleasantly surprised that there was a picture of a stylish pharmacist! Go pharmacists! :D Anywhos, onto more catch-up posts.

Mar. 13 (tues)
Tanya's family was in town at Disneyland so I met with them after work for dinner at Ariel's Grotto inside California Adventure.

Mar. 15 (thurs):
Went to Kula Revolving Sushi Bar and Class 302 with Tony's cousin, Britani. We saw the craziest thing: two cars on fire! Fricken scary!

Mar. 16 (fri):
I actually had Friday off which was why Tony was in town. I had seen a couple of my sisters at Julienne and saw gorgeously delicious photos of their creme brulee french toasts so I had to go try it for myself.

if you couldn't tell, the creme brulee french toasts were gynormous!!

some of the best tasting potatoes i've ever had in life. seriously.

candied bacon. yumes to infinity. melt in your mouth goodness.

We weren't sure what we wanted to do for the rest of the day but decided to (or at least attempted to) walk off all the food we had just consumed at the Arboretum. It's funny how some places are literally in your back yard and you never go. Living in LA there's tons of those places (basically all touristy places). Awhile back I watched one of the styling videos from Wendy's Lookbook and she was at the Arboretum and it looked really nice and I made a mental note to visit. Here are some highlights (we took WAY too many pictures lol).

After walking around the Arboretum for a few hours, we were pretty hungry. We decided to grab something close by at Nordstrom Cafe. Their food was decent. Besides the lack of plugs, it would be a pretty nice place to study... if I still did that stuff lol. We were stuffed afterwards so it was back to my house for a nice nap.

For dinner we ended up Yelping another place to try. The Green Zone actually had some pretty high ratings and we were looking for some healthier options. Most of their food is organic so it was perfect. I was scared their food wouldn't be flavorful since it's "healthy" but it actually tasted really good. From the looks of their Yelp page, it looks like their Hainan Chicken is also a popular dish. I'll have to try that next time and see how it compares to Savoy.

appetizer sampler for 2: shrimp rolls, prawn tofu wraps, and salmon triangles

sea bass salad

clam linguine (sautéed in white wine & garlic broth)

Mar. 17 (sat): Work

I had to work on Saturday but Tony decided to stay in LA for an extra day and just wait for me to get out of work. We were in a "try-new-food" kind of mood that whole weekend so we ended up Yelping another restaurant. This time we decided to go with 101 Noodle Express. I think what caught Tony's eye was their "Chinese burritos". The pictures on their Yelp page are actually quite old, especially the ones of the menu. Their new menu is actually really nice. Everything was super delicious. I would definitely come back to this place. The only pooper is that it's cash only :(. Darn those Asian places and their cash only policies! Reminds me of this 626 video lol.

i think these were the dan dan noodles

pork roll

spicy beef noodle soup

Mar. 18 (sun):

We had a lazy Sunday and didn't start heading out until a little after noon. We were going to Ray Ray to eat but they were closed. While trying to find other places to go, we stumbled upon another place... the name definitely sold us on the place... Honey Badger Cafe. We just had to go (especially since I do such a great rendition of the "honey badger don't care... honey badger don't give a sh**"). The place has sandwiches and some specialty drinks (they even have a durian smooth or some sort of durian drink! A must try for the next time I go!). Their food seems really fresh and healthy. It's also a nice spot to study. It was pretty packed when we were there. It seems like no one leaves and everyone is just studying but if you're able to get a table then I'd give it a try.

what a nice view ;)

i think this was the cuban roast pork

i want to say this was the spicy chipotle beef sandwich

That concludes that weekend. Twas a pretty eventful and foodie-adventure-filled weekend.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
