Spring 2015 Fashion
Spring is here! Or if you live in Southern California, it seriously feels like summer already. I had a chance to go shopping lately for some Spring stuff (as well as some non-spring items) and I thought I'd do a little haul.
I have TJMaxx right by my work and it's a real shame that I don't go there more often. This particular TJMaxx always has really great stuff (mostly clothes, not so much for the home section though). I'm absolutely in love with Spendid shirts made from the modal material and this store usually has a bunch. This time, I was inspired to go shopping for some looks I saw from the Spring "Looks We Love" section of their site. I really love this pink ensemble from their site.
So when I went shopping, I was looking to add a bit of color to my usual white, grey, black palette that I have going on. I ended up buying this American Eagle Aerie Favorite T (similar) in the v-neck style ($6.99). I have extremely sensitive skin to the point where there are certain clothes that I buy that I wear once and I never wear it again because it irritates my skin so much. There are certain shirts and pants that I have to cut off all the tags, otherwise I get itch-crazy. This tee is made of 60% cotton and 40% polyester and it's extremely comfortable. It does look like a shrinker so I'd be aware when washing/drying especially if you are looking for a looser fit shirt.
I'm guessing I'm really into the bright pink/coral color for spring because I ended up purchasing a second tee that looks very similar to the Aerie tee. This one isn't that "washed out" material of the Aerie one so it would be a great option for going out without that beachy/casual look.
I couldn't steer clear of the whites for long. I love all things white and the trouble I have with white pants or shorts are that they seem to always show my underwear. I haven't been able to find a pair of shorts that aren't practically see-through. While I was browsing, I picked up a pair of high-waisted scalloped shorts just for shits and giggles and I ended up loving them! They actually matched really well with the pink/coral shirts I had picked out. The great thing about solid white shorts is the versatility. If you want to look more put together, I'd go for an all-white monochromatic outfit. For a more fun look, pair the shorts with a floral/printed top.
This is all the Spring/Summer items I have bought so far. There are a few more items I'm looking to add to my wardrobe this season like some culottes (which I could also be good for work as well), fringe stuff, a maxi dress, nice sweat-proof sandles (I have a hyperhidrosis problem) and a jumpsuit. I'll keep ya'll updated! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Coachella 2014: The Outfits
Due to popular demand, I've decided to publish this post before any of the other Coachella posts. Enjoy!
I've never really gone around with just my bikini on besides at the beach but when you're in 90 plus degree weather for 3 days, you get pretty over the embarrassment factor. For Day 3 of Coachella, I got pretty brave and just wore my bikini top (Forever 21, $4.80) with some polka-dot high-waisted shorts (Forever 21, $). I originally wore the white tank top (H&M, 2 for $10 for basics sale), but I ended up taking it off as soon as we got to the festival grounds. It was surprisingly freeing and probably the most comfortable I was throughout the entire weekend.
Things I wore the entire weekend: My TOMS are about 4 years old but they were super comfortable for all the walking we did. My sunglasses were purchased from TJ Maxx. My purse is Nine West also from TJ Maxx which I purchased a long time ago. I actually thought the purse was perfect for the weekend. It had multiple pockets so I was able to store a bunch of essentials.
My outfit for the first day was extra casual and comfortable. I wanted something that had the festival flavor but wasn't going to get in the way of having a good time. My top and bottom are from Forever 21. Love this top. The detailing makes this blouse super festival-y. This pair of shorts were also extremely comfortable.
This is the outfit I wore for the 2nd day. The top is from TJ Maxx. It cinches at the waist and is completely open on the sides so I wore a bandeau. The shorts are old from Forever 21.
My favorite outfit was probably the 2nd one I talked about. It was just super casual and similar to things I would wear on the daily. The first outfit was probably the most comfortable. I kept it pretty simple this year (as I did last year).

FW2013 - Fall/Winter Wardrobe 2013 - Outerwear
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year in terms of fashion. During the summer you can usually find me in a tank top and shorts and even then I'm sweating buckets. Not sexy lol. I can get a little more creative during the fall time with layering and mixing and matching different prints. There's just so much you can do because you're wearing more clothes! In the next few weeks, I'll be going over some trends and some classics that you can add to your wardrobe this fall/winter season. I'm going to start out this series with outerwear.
"Leather" Jacket
Don't really need to buy the real thing but a faux leather jacket should do the trick. There's a bunch at Forever 21 that are really affordable and very little commitment for those of us who like are like chameleons with our moods. Some days I like the channel my inner biker chick. For those days I prefer a moto look.

They also have this denim camo colored one with faux leather details. Gives it more a a race car driver feel.

If you're looking for something possibly of higher quality, I found this one in the Savvy section at Nordstrom.com.

blanknyc - litter jacket - $98.00 [product code: 900691] link |
If you prefer all "leather", here's one from the same company, BLANKNYC. This one actually has way better ratings than the other one BUT it'll probably be harder to find since there's only 1 size left :(.

Varsity Jacket
Even though I'm no longer in school, I really love the look of the varsity jacket. Plus I always wanted to wear my "boyfriend's" letterman's jacket lol and I sucked at all sports so there was no way I could get one for myself lol. Guess this is the closest I'll get to wearing one ;). Jenn Im of Clothes Encounters also showcased a similar jacket in her "Favorite Fall Jackets" video which if you don't watch her already, go and subscribe. Her style is eclectic and definitely not everyone's cup of tea but it's inspiration for the rest of us to step out of the box once in awhile.

Bomber Jacket
Even though I love Fall/Winter fashion, one thing I hate about the winter time is how cold it gets! Bomber jackets are a great way to keep warm (especially the ones that are lined and poofed up)! Bomber jackets have definitely been getting trendier. I found this little gem on the Forever 21 website. Definitely looks like something I could find a J. Crew but for a lot less. I'm not sure how the materials are but the geo print makes it look very chic. It also got pretty high ratings so I would feel better about purchasing it online (which I usually don't because I have super sensitive skin and I'd probably itch myself to death lol).

Want to go for a more tough look? Another Forever 21 find was this Quilted Bomber Jacket. It has little studs all over which toughens the look and it's a great way to jump on the "stud" band wagon without looking like you went crazy with a bedazzler (I put the link there for those too young to remember those infomercials! I wanted one so bad lol).

If you're looking for a casual bomber jacket you can just grab and go, I found this Topshop one at Nordstrom. I love the hoodie attached to the bomber. I actually bought a similar one from Forever 21 last year and I don't think they it anymore. The one I bought has fleece sleeves and it's soooooo warm. I absolutely love it.

Tweed Jacket
Whenever I wear tweed I feel like I'm channeling my inner Coco Chanel. I feel like tweed just makes you look a little more put together. Add a white chiffon shirt under this tweed looking jacket with some slacks and you can easily elevate this "teen" look to "successful business woman" look lol. I like the fact that the shoulders aren't too structured so it'll look more fitted to you rather than the look of shoulder pads. The look of this jacket just makes it super versatile so it's a great piece to add to any wardrobe.

ae varsity zip cardigan - $59.99 [style: 1340-6267] link |
Structured Coat
All of the jackets I've talked about before are more casual. If you're looking for something more professional, a structured coat is the way to go. My first thought when I saw this coat was "Kim Kardashian". I feel like it's something she would wear (or has worn).
![]() |
belted broad collar coat - $47.80 [product code: 2027706027] link |
If you'd prefer a darker coat, I'd get one with a little print so that it doesn't look like you're just wearing a trash bag.

kenneth cole new york collarless animal jacquard jacket - $148.00 [product code: 919128] link |
Trench Coat
This one is pretty much a classic but being a pretty petite girl (height of 5 feet), it's extremely hard to find a trench that doesn't overwhelm your entire body. Looking at this particular one from Sam Edelman, it looks like it sits fairly high on the model so I'm assuming it'll be around my knees lol. I like the piping around the arms and just the details all around.

Fall/Winter 2012 Fashion
To even talk about Fall right now is just crazy because the seasons are so screwed up in Socal (our Summer literally didn't start until the end of July and we're pretty much in the 90's to 100's up until Halloween, thankfully it has cooled down a little) but Fall is right around the corner for the rest of the country! I went crazy shopping recently for Fall/Winter clothes so I thought I do a blog post featuring some of the stuff I got and some of the biggest trends I saw while shopping.
1. Leather
Leather leather leather! I'm usually not a big fan of real leather because it smells a little weird to me but since I can't really afford real leather anyways, faux leather it is! This season is all about the traditional black leather in every which way you can wear it (pants, shorts, skirt, jacket) as well as colored leather, especially in burgundy (aka "oxblood"), one of the biggest colors this season.
bloomingdales - doma leather jacket |
I was so in love with this leather jacket when I first saw it in this video but I really can't justify a $628 piece of clothing so I decided to find a more affordable alternative. Since I already have a black leather jacket and a white leather jacket (both of them faux leather of course lol), and burgundy is such a big color this season, I opted for a leather jacket in that color. I found this bomber jacket at Forever21 for only $24.80! Score! I've paired it with a hounds-tooth (I've been seeing this print everywhere!) chiffon shirt also from Forever21. Throw on a pair of black faux leather leggings and some booties and you're ready for a night out on the town.
forever 21 faux leather bomber jacker - $24.80 |
2. Military
Anything from camo to just an overall more structured look, military is back in. Look for structured coats and button detailing. I'm not a huge fan of military stuff, especially the camo, so I opted for a regular cargo/utility jacket (F21 - $24.50). I also have a military shirt (random boutique) with button detailing I plan on bringing back out.
forever 21(link similar; maybe it's only in stores right now?) - $24.50 |
random boutique - old |
forever 21 (from last winter) - $19.80 |
3. Colors: Blues, Burgundy, Hunter Green, and other Jewel Tones
I've never been a huge fan of any of these colors (I'm more of a black, white and grey girl) but the recent boom in colored denim has made stepping out of my color comfort zone a lot easier. During the Nordstrom Anniversary sale a couple of weeks ago I got myself a pair of hunter green jeggings. The quality on them isn't as nice as I had hoped since they were from Nordstrom but the color was an exact match of what I had wanted so I decided to keep them.
Pairing black and blue together is another trend this season so look for a blue top that you can pair over black leather leggings or black jeans, creating a color block effect.
my obsession with colored denim old navy rockstar super skinny jeans in creme camel (link) - $24.46 on sale american eagle jeggings in blue nordstrom fire skinny stretch jeans in green (sz 3 juniors) forever 21 jeggings in red - $19.80 |
Word of warning on the Old Navy Rockstar Super Skinny Jeans: Old Navy is pretty infamous for their vanity sizing so when I first ordered this pair online, I opted for the size 00 Petite. After receiving it and not being able to even put 1 leg in, I opted for the size 6 Petite. Now that I've been wearing them a couple of times (and also maybe because I have no ass), the crotch area and ass area is a bit saggy although the waist and thigh area fit me fine. I would just take that into consideration and maybe size down one size when ordering online. The jeans themselves are super soft so I highly recommend them, it's just that I probably ordered the wrong size.
I just purchased another pair of colored denim in burgundy from AE so we'll see how well that pair fits when it comes in. It took me so long to get this post up that I ended up getting the pair of pants already. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for a pair of burgundy pants. They are super stretchy and feel like a second skin. I only purchase items online that can be returned in stores just because I don't like having to go to the post-office, etc and AE.com has a great return policy so I feel particularly safe buying stuff with them especially during the Labor Day sales with free shipping.

4. Prints
Animal and reptile prints are still booming. Polka-dots are definitely another essential this season.
forever 21 poodle sweater - $19.80 old navy heart sweater (link) - $17.46 on sale (orig. 24.94) nordstrom juniors frenchie bow sweater in cream (i saw this still available in stores on sale for $13.99) old navy polka-dot sweater in camel (same style as the heart sweater)- $17.46 on sale (orig. 24.94) |
target jeggings in snow leopard (link) - $20 on sale (orig. 22.99) (FYI the material is very rough. I've already washed this and it still feels extremely stiff :/.) |
5. Lace
I absolutely love lace but I have super sensitive skin so I'm really particular about what lace items I purchase. I saw two items from Forever21 I just had to purchase. First is this lace peplum blouse. Super versatile because you can pair it with virtually any colored denim depending on the look you want. Pair it with some pink skinnies for a fun and flirty look or pair it with those leather leggings for a more vampy look.
I also bought this baseball-esque sweater with lace details all over the front. You can dress it down during the weekends over some jeans or dress it up with a pair of slacks for work.
Hope everyone enjoyed this post! Happy Monday and have a great week lovers!

nothing to wear!
I think every female faces that moment where they stare at their open closet and think "Gosh, why can't I find a single thing I want to wear?!" I find it especially frustrating because when I look at my spending habits, a good chunk of my money goes towards clothes/shoes/bags (it's a weakness!) yet I still can't find anything to wear :(. Recently I've had a tad more time to actually read the blog posts instead of just looking through pictures and I came across a great post from Jean of ExtraPetite called Keeping a Streamlined Wardrobe. It was so helpful that I thought I'd share it with ya'lls!
As I've stated in my previous posts, I've been trying to curb my spending in an attempt to not only pay off my loans but also save up for an emergency fund. The funny thing is I haven't even gotten my first official paycheck yet! lol. CVS recently went from weekly paychecks to biweekly paychecks and it really feels like forever before you get paid :/. I just really wanted to have all my spreadsheets prepared so that I wouldn't be bombarded when I get that first paycheck. But I made a similar spreadsheet to Jean's and I'm finding it so useful to organize my clothes that I've started going through my old receipts just to see what I bought, what I actually wear and what I shouldn't have bought to begin with. Here's what my spreadsheet looks like for the month of September so far. (ps. Don't judge me for all the spending that I've already done and the first week of September isn't even over yet! I couldn't resist all the Labor Day sales!!).
Hope you guys find this useful! Happy Hump Day! Almost to the weekend folks! Let's keep chugging along!

gorgeous
paper crown spring 2012 collection preview |
So I recently subscribed to Lauren Conrad's site, which is actually quite extensive, to my surprise. I didn't realize that besides her LC Lauren Conrad line at Kohl's, she also has another line called Paper Crown sold at Nordy's and other online boutiques. The line itself is sleek, simple, and sophisticated which is perfect for this transition from "college kid" to "working woman" that I think many of us are going through. Although my current budget won't allow me to purchase any of the items I'm currently coveting from the collection, my Forever 21 look-a-likes will have to do for now.
I've been subscribed for the last couple of days and her posts are actually quite useful. Today's post was her "Working Girl's Style Staples: Top Ten" which is exactly what I've been looking for to transform my "kiddie" wardrobe into something more timeless. Her top 10 list included the following:
- White Button Down Shirt - check!
- Black Pants - check!
- Black Pumps - check!
- Neutral Sweater - haven't pull out my fall/winter sweaters yet but I don't believe I have one yet.
- Simple Flats - just bought some flats from Gap!
- Long Sleeve Silk Blouse - still looking for one... although I did buy a 3/4 sleeve black one this weekend :/
- Basic Blazer - check!
- Black Tights - check!
- Black Tote Bag - I think a Longchamp bag is a good substitute :)
- Colored Silk Crepe Top - (going to sound like a complete dozo here but crepe top just makes me think of food lol so I definitely don't have one of these lol)
Anywhos, I'm trying to work on a few other posts including one on the cruise and my Labor Day fashion haul. Hope everyone had a fabulous Labor Day! Now I will go and enjoy the rest of my day off at Disneyland with my lovely ladies! It's a hard life... I know :P
