February: Week 2

Feb. 4 (sat):

Started off Saturday with the breakfast of champions! There aren't very many Chick-fil-A's around me in LA so whenever I'm in San Diego I take advantage of the fact that there's one close by to Tony's house. Chick-n-mini's and their little hash browns! Yumes!

We ran some errands and decided to go to Seaport Village since the weather was so nice. This was my second time going to Seaport Village. Love all the street vendors they have there but I've really lost my touch in bargaining since I haven't been to Chinatown in awhile.

arghhh matey!

my best picture of the day with my iPhone! sho schek-xee.

extremely large kite? lol

After walking all over Seaport Village, we were ready to get our grub on. One thing you should all know about me by now is that I don't really like Mexican food UNLESS it's cooked by someone's mom/grandma/aunt/anyfamilymemberthatcancook lol. Tony's been trying to get me to try more Mexican food. The poor dude is deprived these days. So we went to Lucha Libre. Apparently it wasn't really that busy until it was featured on Man vs. Food. I think I had the Surfin' California. Their shrimp was so fresh and delish. Like you could literally feel the crunch when biting into the shrimp! That shit cray! (too much Coke & after work high).

TJ corn (before I ordered this, I thought it was going to come on the cobb...
like the way the people in my neighborhood sell it haha..
I was slightly disappointed but still good)

After stuffing our faces at Lucha Libre, we went back to Tony's house and just watched movies. We ended up watching Tokyo Drift and Gran Torino. Holy crap Gran Torino was a freakin' great movie. At the end of the movie I just started sobbing (I always say it's not a great movie unless I'm crying lol). So freakin' sad! Gahhh.

Feb. 5 (sun):

Superbowl Party with Tony's friends. I don't have pictures. Just my love handles to prove I ate lots of good food and made cake pops!

Feb. 6 (mon):

Decided to stay an extra day in San Diego since I didn't have to go back to work until Wednesday. We decided to take Tony's mom and grandmother to Seaport Village where we ate at Sally's Seafood on the Water, one of his grandmother's favorite restaurants. I was seriously surprised that their food tasted so delicious!! Off of their lunch menu, I had the King Crab Club Sandwich (see picture below). There were so many choices that sounded delicious but I decided to go with King Crab Club Sandwich because the waiter said that the cook or manager (I forget which one) has one every day haha. If it's good enough for the person cooking or working with the food to have one everyday, it's good enough for me! The sauce that comes with the fries is literally TO DIE FOR. And the fries are seasoned so they are super tasty.

Feb. 7 (tues):

On Tuesday, my friend and I had a little date at Disneyland! It was supposed to rain so the park was pretty deserted. It was super awesome because we even got our own boat on "It's a Small World"! So romantic :D so we had to take a picture! (too bad you can't see that we're the only ones on the boat lol)

gabrielle and zena (with a z and not an x)

i'm losing my touch on this ride! haven't been on enough to practice :(

Feb. 8-11 (wed-sat): Work

Friday was one of the intern's last day on her rotation and she got us Dots Cupcakes! Dee-lish!

Feb. 12 (sun):

Didn't do much this weekend since I worked on Saturday. On Sunday I was feeling like a complete bum so the only thing I did was go on a walk with Sophie and then went to Walmart.

Tis all for now friends! Trying to get back into posting regularly. Yay to having Easter off! It's my weekend to work too so I end up only having to work 1 day! Can we say awesome?! Although the holiday would've been WAY nice lol. Have a great weekend everyone!

*edit*
side note: Refinery29 just came out with their list of sushi places with the freshest fish and I want to try all of them!!! See them for yourself here!

March: Part 1

Being that the first couple weeks of March was consumed by vacation (and there's a separate post on that), I'm just going to break March up into several part. Now that I'm working 40 hour weeks and most of my weekends are spent traveling, there's definitely less time to post.

Mar. 8-9 (thurs-fri):

After coming home from Hawaii, I was rushed off to work the next day 2 days with closing shifts. I took the weekend off (March 10th thru 12th) for the Drake concert on Sunday at SDSU.

Mar. 10 (sat):
On Saturday, we started off the day by running errands. I had some stuff to return at the Container Store, Target and Nordstrom's and I also had to go to the bank. We still had some time to kill before my eye exam at 3:30pm (Tony's friend is an optometrist and I was in dire need of new contacts so I had made an appointment to see him), so we decided to have lunch at Slater's 50/50.

pretty damn good burgers. my only complaint was that the burger was cooked wayyy too well.
i like my cows still moo-ing. our waitress didn't ask how we wanted our

burgers cooked so i'm not even sure if you can choose :/

they had this pick 3 appetizers thing and we got the
panko fried mac 'n cheese, beer battered onion rings,
and french fried potatoes. i absolutely LOVED the onion rings
(but then again, I love almost all onion rings lol)

After stuffing our faces, we went to my eye exam. Sadly, my vision has gotten a lot worse :(. I blame my darn gene pool! My mom is practically blind and had laser eye surgery, not once, but twice! It started out as a really nice summery day so we tried to walk around Coronado but it got pretty cold so we went back to Tony's house before heading out to dinner. We had 7 courses of beef and fried catfish which was delicious! I haven't had the stuff in such a long time. I mostly enjoyed the 7 courses of beef. I don't really like the fried catfish that much just because of my fear of fish bones.

We spent the rest of the night at this new bar (maybe just new to me? lol) in Downtown San Diego called The Lion's Share. It's a really nice bar/restaurant and the decor reminds me of the American Revolution lol . Since we just had dinner, we mostly went there for the drinks. Their drinks are super unique and actually tasted pretty healthy (at least to me lol). My favorite of the night was "Monks Gone Wild". Absolutely delish for someone that doesn't want a drink that tastes like you're straight chugging rubbing alcohol.

tres amigos

wish i could remember what drinks these were lol
After drinks we headed home to rest. Plus we were losing an hour to daylight savings :(.

Mar. 11 (sun):
Sunday funday. We went to have dim sum with Tony's family and then I went back to Tony's house and took a nap lol. I need naps! We got ready for the Drake concert and went to pre-party at John's house. We then headed to grab some dinner at Tokyo Sushi near UCSD.

dinner before our first concert together!

oyster shooters

spicy tuna salad. holy moly. so delish. looks so healthy too lol.

fishie balloons! with lips like mine lol

Drake concert was a complete blur. The fact that we got home safely was a miracle. Tanks got. lol.

That's it for now! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

october: week 2

october: week 2
[10/09/11 to 10/15/11]

On Sunday, October 9th, Tony and I just chilled at my house and watched football. We always have a pretty difficult time picking a place to eat and Tony always makes fun of me because I think Pizza Hut has the best pizza (I still think they do lol... although this place is quite equivalent). So we decided to use Yelp to help us decide on a new pizza place to eat at. We decided on Baby Bros Pizza. I was pleasantly surprised! I hate that thin pizza. I love pizza that's like... Pizza Hut pizza lol and this place has definitely got it! We ordered the medium supreme pizza with added pineapples (I love pineapples on pizzas!) and also the potato skins. I would have to say their pizza tastes a little better than Pizza Hut because their ingredients tasted a lot fresher but very delish! Here's a picture.

Ended up working at the 24 hour store on Monday for the morning shift. The amount of traffic at that store is CRAZY. I was alone from 7 till 7:30 and didn't really have much to do but once 8am hit, the phones would not stop ringing! Thank goodness I was done at 4p but it seriously felt like it didn't come soon enough. I returned the 2nd day back to the 24 hour store and this time they mostly had me at the drop-off which was nice because I got to practice typing, especially with insurances. Tuesday was a complete blur and on Wednesday I worked at a much slower store with AMAZING techs/staff so it was fantastic! It's also great when you have a 3 day work week so Wednesday was my "Friday".

On Thursday, October 13th, I took the train down to Solana Beach. I've never taken the train down that direction before. I've only taken the train back to LA from Stockton. Anywhos, it was a bit rockier than I would imagine. The train was swaying so much I could barely even type a post. I took quite a few pictures on the train (plus I was testing out the new HDR pictures on the new iPhone upgrade). Here they are a few of the pictures.

After arriving in Solana Beach, we went back to Tony's house and ended up having dinner with his parents at Que Pasa Mexican Grill. The place itself is pretty nice. It's more of a Happy Hour/Sports Bar scene being that they have this huge projector. They give you complimentary chips & salsa and they have this really good cheese dip that tastes like healthy nacho cheese (like a lot lighter and milkier... less yellow lol). I got the tamales and lobster taco. I've never had a lobster taco before but boy this baby was tasty!! The tortilla isn't the best though. It didn't taste very fresh but the flavor of the lobster with all the other ingredients definitely made up for it. Didn't get a chance to snap any pictures at this place since I was eating with Tony's parents lol. We also tried their margaritas which were very tasty as well. Tasted like punch :). Went to do some shopping at Target and CVS since I had a bunch of ExtraBucks I needed to use before they were going to expire and then called it a night since Tony had to go into work the next day.

On Friday, I had lunch with Tony's mom which was super nice. She's such a sweetheart and there's just something about talking to a parent that's not your own... not so much judgement and no constant feeling that you're a disappointment. Whenever I talk to my mom it feels like there's so much negativity... like everything I do is wrong. We spent almost 3 hours talking at Denny's while having brunch. After brunch we headed home and I got to spend the rest of the day with Tony. He hurt his back at work so we were trying not to do too much. We ended up going to ULTA, Marshall's, and World Market. There was so much cool stuff at World Market! I haven't been there in a long time (since back in the day when I used to go with my dad to Ontario Mills like every weekend lol) but yeah! They have jewelry there and a bunch of snacks as well! Their prices weren't too bad either!

We were super hungry after that but the weather got freakishly cold afterwards so we went home and changed. Another dilemma on where to eat. finally decided on Indian food and ended up just Yelping a place near Tony's house. We ended up going to Punjabi Tandoor (which I just realized through a Google search that they have one in Anaheim!). Let me just say... Oh. Em. Gee. We shared the shrimp vindalu which was SOOOOOO good because it was super spicy and the paneer tikka masala. It was seriously delicious! But then again I really don't have Indian food that often so my opinion is probably not that great lol. Here's a picture of our food. Here's a link to their menu in case you want to try it for yourself!

I realized half-way through dinner that I didn't have a picture and that's why everything looks half eaten lol.
So I've been wanting to go to Extraordinary Desserts to see what all the hype was about and I've been to San Diego quite a few times now but we've just never really had time to go. Plus it's hard to find parking at the one Downtown (apparently there's 2 locations which I just found out from one of my coworkers lol). So during dinner, Tony was asking if he could use my phone to check traffic 'cause there was this guy that wanted to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge so they closed down the whole freeway. And I was like, "If there's not too much traffic, we should go to Extraordinary Desserts!" and he totally gave me a "You stole my idea, punk!" face lol. Apparently that's why he was looking up traffic. So yay! I'll let the pictures do the talking because the desserts were absolutely beautiful.

looks like nestle's strawberry milk but tastes like white chocolate hot chocolate! yumes!
Alright friends, I must continue this post on another day since I've been a complete photo whore with the new settings on the camera lol. Will post the happenings on Saturday in another post as well as some recent purchases! Tony got me these super cute Marc by Marc Jacob sunglasses that are super cute from Marshall's. They were $35 but they are cat-eye inspired and also over-sized for the LA gal.

Anywhos, hope everyone started their Mondays off on the right foot! I've got a 40-hour work week this week but mostly morning shifts so we'll see how it goes! Love and miss you friends! Most likely won't be able to make it to cake pop making this Saturday since it's my mom's birthday and Tony's cousin is having a birthday party. I have Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday off lol. (In the words of Judy, it's a hard life :P) Guess we'll have to catch up on life at the Halloween party (which I have work on that day but I'll be ready to play at night). Have a great week everyone!

september week 1

the help
On Tuesday August 30th, I went to watch The Help with Judy. Such a great movie! I'd highly recommend it. Prepare for sniffles. The whole theatre was sniffling so you know that means I was like bawling. I even heard this guy behind us saying it was a good movie hahaha. Emma Stone was so good too! Go see it... now! lol

Labor Day weekend started early on Friday. I drove down to San Diego which took so friggin long! I totally forgot that it was Labor Day weekend but I had a whole 4 hours of reminders in the form of wanting to pull my hair out and stab myself to death. I had to go get Starbucks as soon as I got there just to stay awake. We went to eat at Miami Grille... again :). Jamaican jerk chicken. Enough said. So. So. Good. Their chop chops are also super good. *drools*

After dinner we went to Children's Pool in La Jolla and checked out the beached seals lol. They looked like slugs on the sand especially when they started moving. I was pretty beat after being stuck in traffic all day so we decided to go home and watch a movie. We ended up watching Bad Teacher which was somewhat funny but oh gahd... such a horrible movie! I don't think I've ever said that about a movie but this one was like one of those "I can never get back those 2 hours in my life!" lol.

Jake's Del Mar - view from outside the restaurant
Saturday morning we had a triple date planned with Tony's friends at Jake's Del Mar (Yelp). The restaurant itself is super nice and their food is pretty good. Tony and I actually went here on our first date in San Diego :) I would say my only complaint is that their menu is very small. I got the salmon and Tony got the sea bass. We also got the Ahi Poke Roll Appetizer and Calamari which were delish. I also got a Sandy's Beach Tea which is just ice tea, lemonade and vodka.

Jake's Del Mar - our view from inside the restaurant
After lunch we went shopping! Yay! Finally got some deals at Forever 21. Hopefully I'll get to showcase them soon! Also got some ballet flats from Gap! They're super comfortable but hopefully they won't kill my feet at work. I also found some cute stuff at American Eagle online since they're having their 40% off sale + free shipping! Too many Labor Day sales! ahh!

Hope everyone's Labor Day weekends are going great! I just got home from work not too long ago but now I have 2 days off :). It's like an interrupted 4 day weekend. Yay for holiday pay!
