March: Part 2

Coachella was this past weekend and Refinery29 has posted a bunch of pictures of stylish ladies from the show. Upon browsing, I was pleasantly surprised that there was a picture of a stylish pharmacist! Go pharmacists! :D Anywhos, onto more catch-up posts.

Mar. 13 (tues)
Tanya's family was in town at Disneyland so I met with them after work for dinner at Ariel's Grotto inside California Adventure.

Mar. 15 (thurs):
Went to Kula Revolving Sushi Bar and Class 302 with Tony's cousin, Britani. We saw the craziest thing: two cars on fire! Fricken scary!

Mar. 16 (fri):
I actually had Friday off which was why Tony was in town. I had seen a couple of my sisters at Julienne and saw gorgeously delicious photos of their creme brulee french toasts so I had to go try it for myself.

if you couldn't tell, the creme brulee french toasts were gynormous!!

some of the best tasting potatoes i've ever had in life. seriously.

candied bacon. yumes to infinity. melt in your mouth goodness.

We weren't sure what we wanted to do for the rest of the day but decided to (or at least attempted to) walk off all the food we had just consumed at the Arboretum. It's funny how some places are literally in your back yard and you never go. Living in LA there's tons of those places (basically all touristy places). Awhile back I watched one of the styling videos from Wendy's Lookbook and she was at the Arboretum and it looked really nice and I made a mental note to visit. Here are some highlights (we took WAY too many pictures lol).

After walking around the Arboretum for a few hours, we were pretty hungry. We decided to grab something close by at Nordstrom Cafe. Their food was decent. Besides the lack of plugs, it would be a pretty nice place to study... if I still did that stuff lol. We were stuffed afterwards so it was back to my house for a nice nap.

For dinner we ended up Yelping another place to try. The Green Zone actually had some pretty high ratings and we were looking for some healthier options. Most of their food is organic so it was perfect. I was scared their food wouldn't be flavorful since it's "healthy" but it actually tasted really good. From the looks of their Yelp page, it looks like their Hainan Chicken is also a popular dish. I'll have to try that next time and see how it compares to Savoy.

Mar. 17 (sat): Work

I had to work on Saturday but Tony decided to stay in LA for an extra day and just wait for me to get out of work. We were in a "try-new-food" kind of mood that whole weekend so we ended up Yelping another restaurant. This time we decided to go with 101 Noodle Express. I think what caught Tony's eye was their "Chinese burritos". The pictures on their Yelp page are actually quite old, especially the ones of the menu. Their new menu is actually really nice. Everything was super delicious. I would definitely come back to this place. The only pooper is that it's cash only :(. Darn those Asian places and their cash only policies! Reminds me of this 626 video lol.

i think these were the dan dan noodles

spicy beef noodle soup

Mar. 18 (sun):

We had a lazy Sunday and didn't start heading out until a little after noon. We were going to Ray Ray to eat but they were closed. While trying to find other places to go, we stumbled upon another place... the name definitely sold us on the place... Honey Badger Cafe. We just had to go (especially since I do such a great rendition of the "honey badger don't care... honey badger don't give a sh**"). The place has sandwiches and some specialty drinks (they even have a durian smooth or some sort of durian drink! A must try for the next time I go!). Their food seems really fresh and healthy. It's also a nice spot to study. It was pretty packed when we were there. It seems like no one leaves and everyone is just studying but if you're able to get a table then I'd give it a try.

what a nice view ;)

i think this was the cuban roast pork

i want to say this was the spicy chipotle beef sandwich

That concludes that weekend. Twas a pretty eventful and foodie-adventure-filled weekend.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

February: Week 3

Feb. 13-14 (mon-tue): Work

Feb. 15 (wed):

The SRS light came on in my Honda Accord so I decided to take it in to the dealership after reading comments online that said that it might actually be covered under the warranty. Thank goodness everything turned out fine. It was something wrong with the seat belt sensors which are under warranty so I got it replaced for free! They had to order the part so I actually had to go back the following week to get it installed.

Feb. 16 (thur):

My cousin Helen from Australia was in town so we had lunch at Foo Foo Tei, pretty much one of the best ramen places I've ever eaten at.

We met up again for dinner at Cafe Santorini in Pasadena. Not a huge fan of the place. I had the lamb and it really wasn't that great. WAY overcooked. The lamb lollipops I had at Parkway Grill were 100 times better!

Feb. 17 (fri): Work

Feb. 18 (sat):

Took the weekend off to celebrate the bestie's birthday!!

Started off the day by having lunch at The Crab Pot in Long Beach.

starting the day off right: mimosas in hand

For dinner, we went to this Greek restaurant... I forgot the name lol. I had lamb... again lol. Much better than the lamb at Cafe Santorini.

belly dancing time!

Feb. 19 (sun):

Didn't really do much today. Went to the Grove and just walked around for a bit. Then had dinner at Katsuya at the Americana.

Feb. 20-21 (mon-tue): Work

Also got my taxes done! Woot for being ahead of schedule!

Feb. 23 (wed):

After working, I realized how nice it is to have a weekday off to run errands and just have some me time. Places are so crowded on the weekends these days. I brought my car back to the Honda dealership to get my seat belts fixed since the SRS light had gone on. The last time I went it was super fast because I had gone on a rainy day and there was no one there. Today was a completely different story. It was a nice sunny day so I ended up waiting 3 hours for my car. I just sat inside and read my book (The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks... I wanted to take a break from the 2 other books I was reading [Catching Fire and The Art of Racing in the Rain] and read something more on the "light" side.) I got a good chunk of reading done which was nice.

After that I went to buy some groceries at Fresh and Easy. I had a coupon and some money to use up on their "Friends" card program. Then my dad and I went to the AT&T store to change all of our billing information to my name so I could get my company discount on my cell phone bill. I ended up getting 23% off my cell phone bill! Not too shabby!

That night, I had RSVP'd for a drug rep dinner at Ruth's Chris for COPD Awareness. It was so delicious! I had the filet mignon and it was seriously cooked to perfection! I also took some dessert home! $4 for parking and a steak dinner. So worth it!

Feb. 23-28 (thurs-tues): Work

Feb. 29 (wed):

Hawaii time! Read all about our Hawaii Trip here!

Thanks for reading friends!!

February: Week 2

Feb. 4 (sat):

Started off Saturday with the breakfast of champions! There aren't very many Chick-fil-A's around me in LA so whenever I'm in San Diego I take advantage of the fact that there's one close by to Tony's house. Chick-n-mini's and their little hash browns! Yumes!

We ran some errands and decided to go to Seaport Village since the weather was so nice. This was my second time going to Seaport Village. Love all the street vendors they have there but I've really lost my touch in bargaining since I haven't been to Chinatown in awhile.

arghhh matey!

my best picture of the day with my iPhone! sho schek-xee.

extremely large kite? lol

After walking all over Seaport Village, we were ready to get our grub on. One thing you should all know about me by now is that I don't really like Mexican food UNLESS it's cooked by someone's mom/grandma/aunt/anyfamilymemberthatcancook lol. Tony's been trying to get me to try more Mexican food. The poor dude is deprived these days. So we went to Lucha Libre. Apparently it wasn't really that busy until it was featured on Man vs. Food. I think I had the Surfin' California. Their shrimp was so fresh and delish. Like you could literally feel the crunch when biting into the shrimp! That shit cray! (too much Coke & after work high).

TJ corn (before I ordered this, I thought it was going to come on the cobb...
like the way the people in my neighborhood sell it haha..
I was slightly disappointed but still good)

After stuffing our faces at Lucha Libre, we went back to Tony's house and just watched movies. We ended up watching Tokyo Drift and Gran Torino. Holy crap Gran Torino was a freakin' great movie. At the end of the movie I just started sobbing (I always say it's not a great movie unless I'm crying lol). So freakin' sad! Gahhh.

Feb. 5 (sun):

Superbowl Party with Tony's friends. I don't have pictures. Just my love handles to prove I ate lots of good food and made cake pops!

Feb. 6 (mon):

Decided to stay an extra day in San Diego since I didn't have to go back to work until Wednesday. We decided to take Tony's mom and grandmother to Seaport Village where we ate at Sally's Seafood on the Water, one of his grandmother's favorite restaurants. I was seriously surprised that their food tasted so delicious!! Off of their lunch menu, I had the King Crab Club Sandwich (see picture below). There were so many choices that sounded delicious but I decided to go with King Crab Club Sandwich because the waiter said that the cook or manager (I forget which one) has one every day haha. If it's good enough for the person cooking or working with the food to have one everyday, it's good enough for me! The sauce that comes with the fries is literally TO DIE FOR. And the fries are seasoned so they are super tasty.

Feb. 7 (tues):

On Tuesday, my friend and I had a little date at Disneyland! It was supposed to rain so the park was pretty deserted. It was super awesome because we even got our own boat on "It's a Small World"! So romantic :D so we had to take a picture! (too bad you can't see that we're the only ones on the boat lol)

gabrielle and zena (with a z and not an x)

i'm losing my touch on this ride! haven't been on enough to practice :(

Feb. 8-11 (wed-sat): Work

Friday was one of the intern's last day on her rotation and she got us Dots Cupcakes! Dee-lish!

Feb. 12 (sun):

Didn't do much this weekend since I worked on Saturday. On Sunday I was feeling like a complete bum so the only thing I did was go on a walk with Sophie and then went to Walmart.

Tis all for now friends! Trying to get back into posting regularly. Yay to having Easter off! It's my weekend to work too so I end up only having to work 1 day! Can we say awesome?! Although the holiday would've been WAY nice lol. Have a great weekend everyone!

*edit*
side note: Refinery29 just came out with their list of sushi places with the freshest fish and I want to try all of them!!! See them for yourself here!
