Sephora 15% Off Beauty Insider Haul

I posted a picture on Instagram of a few things I hauled from Sephora and some of you had asked what I liked most and my opinion on some of the products so I thought I'd do some mini-reviews on some of the products I've tried for the past few days. Hope you enjoy! Did you buy anything in the recent Sephora Beauty Insider sale? Share your purchases in the comments section below!

1. Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
I've heard a lot of beauty gurus talk about how they like this palette more than the 1 & 2. I thought I'd check it out for myself. When I opened up the package there it actually looked like it was used for one of the colors :/ and there was also quite a bit of fall out. I actually really like the palette. I haven't used it very much yet but I've been using "Nooner" every single day!

2. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black
When Ingrid (missglamorazzi) first mentioned this in her video, I knew I had to try it because she always mentions how oily her eyelids are (mine are probably about the same) but I completely forgot about it. So when Estee (essiebutton) talked about how her mom had swatched it on her hand and the staying power of it, I was reminded that I must get this product. I tried it out this past weekend when I was in LA and oh-em-gee, it's amazeballs! It literally stays on all day and it doesn't smear at all!

3. Benefit the PORE fessional - Agent Zero Shine
One of the 3 samples I got. It actually came with a little small brush. Haven't really heard much about this one so we'll see.

4. Benefit Bigger Than BB Big Easy Liquid to Power
Another one of the 3 samples I got. Still haven't gotten to trying it out yet.

5. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion
I think Holly (hollyannaeree) has talked about this one a lot so I'm finally getting around to trying it. I tried it out on Friday and there are 2 things that really bug me about it. First, why haven't they made it a twist up?! (yes, I'm probably the laziest person on Earth). Secondly, it somehow got smeared on my contacts and it's a freakin' mo-fo trying to get that stuff off! *Sigh* I had high hopes.

6. Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter with softening shea butter and aloe vera
OMG. This stuff smells so freaking good. It doesn't smell like you just slathered yourself in fragrance though. It just smells like you just came out of the shower. It's also extremely moisturizing (not as much as a those super thick creams). It also doesn't feel heavy like some of the thick creams do.

7. Origins Clear Improvement Active charcoal mask to clear pores
I really like this mask so far. I've tried it once last week since my skin has been having a field day. I've been having a lot of breakouts and I do feel like this has helped a little to dry out those super oozy one (TMI I know lol).

8. Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
My first time purchasing the actual oil. I had the lotion (I think) before. I've only used this once since I've gotten it but I'm not a real big fan of the scent :/. I'm not sure if it's just me but it smells like they tried to get rid of the scent but it smells like they put something into it to get rid of it and it just smells plain weird!

9. Caudalie Vinosource Serum S.O.S. Desalterant
There's probably a reason why my favorite bloggers/vloggers love this stuff. I love it too. Super moisturizing without feeling heavy. I actually follow Claire's (heyclaire) skincare routine video where she uses the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence first and then puts the serum on. My skin is pretty oil and acne prone (same as hers) and I really do feel like my skin looks and feels smoother after using these two products together.

10. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Medium 2 Ginger
This was another oh-em-gee product for me. Like seriously where has this product been all my life?! I've been buying all these drugstore concealers and they are always so drying. The whole point of me needing concealer is that I need to cover up those nasty pimples and hyperpigmentation and not draw more attention to them because of the dryness. This concealer is great because it's super creamy (as stated in the name). I don't think I got the right color though... it's a tad darker than my current skin color so I think I'll probably repurchase a shade down the scale but I think it'll be a perfect shade for summer.

11. Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial
Super moisturizing and it does feel a little greasy. I used this 2 days in a row and I kinda felt it made my skin break out because it clogged up my pores O_O. So I'm not sure what to think of it. Maybe it was just user error lol.

12. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
My final oh-em-gee product. Now, I'm not 100% sure it's this product by itself or just my current skincare routine but I've definitely noticed my pores getting smaller (especially the ones around my cheek area). It's gotten to the point where I don't even need to use my Benefit PORE-fessional O_O (I know!). I hope it's something that'll actually keep working though and not something my skin will just get used to.

13. Soap & Glory Clean, Girls Skin Softening Creamy Body Wash
Haven't started using this yet but I heard it smells like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle (which is my fragrance of choice) so I can't wait to try it!

14. First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish
Haven't tried this yet either but it's just a deluxe sample that I used my Beauty Insider points for so we'll see how it goes!

Sunday Sounds: Bonnaroo 2014 Series - Frank Ocean

photo cred: earmilk.com

There was a time when every time a song would come on the radio or a show, I would Shazam it and it would be something from Frank Ocean. His stuff is absolutely amazing. My favorites are Pyramid and Thinking About You. For those of us that watched Gossip Girl, you may remember some of his tracks from their final season. I remember watching one episode and literally 3-4 songs that player were by Frank Ocean. Have a listen below and I hope you enjoy!

Concert: Kings of Leon

Concert Series:

March 22nd, 2014
Kings of Leon at the Sleep Train Amphitheater in Chula Vista, CA

You always know that you've been to a great concert when you come out of the concert wanting to go back and listen to more songs that you didn't know you liked until you heard it live. I was pretty much completely infatuated with the entire Only by the Night album with selected songs from the Come Around Sundown and Mechanical Bull. I hadn't heard very many songs from Mechanical Bull except maybe "Wait For Me" and "Supersoaker". After listening to almost the entire album live (if not the whole thing), I've been soooo obsessed with "Tonight", "Coming Back Again", and "Family Tree" (my favorite one being Tonight). Sadly they didn't play 2 of my favorites from the Come Around Sundown album, "The Face" and "The End" but all in all it was a great concert. The only problem was this crowd. Honestly, I feel like if you're going to be in the pit area, you need to stand up. And trust me, I'm not the kind of person that's jumping up and down brimming with excitement but I at the very least stood for the entire concert and jived (is that the right word? lol) to the music. The artists feed off your energy and a lot of the people were sitting down and I felt like it would've been a much better show if people showed that they actually wanted to be there. It was like when Tanya and I went to the John Mayer concert at the Hollywood Bowl and he made a shout out to all the "real" fans all the way in the bleacher seats because most of the people that have the super close seats were the sons and daughters of the record execs with their arms crossed looking like they weren't impressed just 'cause "mummy and daddy" got them tickets to all the shows and what not. *shrugs* Ah well.. what can you do. Hope you enjoy these pictures and I also have a few videos from the show!

i had to lol this old man taking a picture with his flip phone kekeke

they made is snow in san diego!

Coachella 2014: The Outfits

Due to popular demand, I've decided to publish this post before any of the other Coachella posts. Enjoy!

I've never really gone around with just my bikini on besides at the beach but when you're in 90 plus degree weather for 3 days, you get pretty over the embarrassment factor. For Day 3 of Coachella, I got pretty brave and just wore my bikini top (Forever 21, $4.80) with some polka-dot high-waisted shorts (Forever 21, $). I originally wore the white tank top (H&M, 2 for $10 for basics sale), but I ended up taking it off as soon as we got to the festival grounds. It was surprisingly freeing and probably the most comfortable I was throughout the entire weekend.

Things I wore the entire weekend: My TOMS are about 4 years old but they were super comfortable for all the walking we did. My sunglasses were purchased from TJ Maxx. My purse is Nine West also from TJ Maxx which I purchased a long time ago. I actually thought the purse was perfect for the weekend. It had multiple pockets so I was able to store a bunch of essentials.

My outfit for the first day was extra casual and comfortable. I wanted something that had the festival flavor but wasn't going to get in the way of having a good time. My top and bottom are from Forever 21. Love this top. The detailing makes this blouse super festival-y. This pair of shorts were also extremely comfortable.

This is the outfit I wore for the 2nd day. The top is from TJ Maxx. It cinches at the waist and is completely open on the sides so I wore a bandeau. The shorts are old from Forever 21.

My favorite outfit was probably the 2nd one I talked about. It was just super casual and similar to things I would wear on the daily. The first outfit was probably the most comfortable. I kept it pretty simple this year (as I did last year).

March 2014: Month in Review Part 1

Mar. 1st:
Had the weekend off and being the working woman that I am, I tend to wake up quite early (try 6:30am before the time change). Usually we lay in bed and try to find a place for brunch. We found this place called Great Maple with bacon donuts! Had to try it. We got there and it was packed! Luckily it's open seating at the bar so instead of waiting almost an hour (which the lady quoted me), we waited 5 minutes for a spot at the bar. Brunch is not complete without a bloody mary so I opted for the Big 'o Pickle Bloody Mary. Yah... and this came out.

massive pickle

just for a size comparison

seriously delicious. so warm and toasty when they first come out!! *drools*

We went shopping afterwards in search of some new sheets. Ok, maybe this is one of those weird things about me but I absolutely LOVE the feeling of nice sheets and it's a MUST. I seriously can't sleep if the sheets don't feel good. So we bought some sheets last year at the San Diego County Fair and because we washed them a whole lot, they started having those little balls that pop up and make the sheets feel fricken weird. It got so bad that I was actually having a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep (It sounds like I'm joking but I'm completely serious!). Luckily we found some at Walmart which is what I have at my home home. I used my gift card so it was Free99.

It was only about 3pm when we got a little hangry. We decided to go for some Hawaiian food at Island Style Cafe. I love this place and I keep trying to get my friends from Hawaii to go to this place so we can see how authentic this place is. To me it's "broke da mout" lol. Thanks Richard for teaching me that hahaha.

We were pretty beat after being out all day so we called it a night after we got home.

Mar. 2nd:
Didn't do much all day. Went to dinner at Osteria Romantica with my friends Richard and Blaire who were in town for a few days. I got the Pappardelle pasta with braided lamb, mixed wild mushrooms, olives and rosemary. It was pretty good but definitely not as good as Bencotto.

Mar. 3rd:
Took the day off to go to the Childish Gambino concert. Met up with Richard and Blaire for lunch at El Zarape. Haven't tried this place before but heard really good reviews. I got the Wasabi burrito and it was pretty tasty and I don't even like Mexican food (I know... blasphemy right?! lol).

Went to the Childish Gambino show that night but unfortunately I forgot my camera (I was trying to vlog for the day and then ended up in the middle of uploading my footage to the computer so I completely forgot to put the camera in the purse). I have some minor videos from the show but nothing worth posting.

Mar. 4th:
After work on the 4th, we went brewery hopping. First stop was Ballast Point.

Next stop was Green Flash and the final destination was Stone Brewery Beer Gardens.

Mar. 5th:
Got a chance to do happy hour with one of my San Diego gals. We went to Fleming's and it was totally yumes! Their happy hour menu is really good. We got 2 burgers, 2 alcoholic drinks, and 2 apps between the two of us and it was $20 each. Their burgers were actually surprisingly good. Their calamari is a MUST (tastes tangy Asian).

For dessert we decided to go to Lette at UTC for their macarons. OMG. My snooty LA self will have to admit that these macarons are better than Bottega Louie or any other macarons I've had. Their salted caramel macaron is seriously the BOMB DOT COM (and I hate salted caramel stuff but I just ordered one of each flavor and I figured I'd just give anything I didn't like to Tony).

Mar. 7th:
Went out to eat in Little Italy at Mona Lisa for Tony's cousin's birthday.

Mar. 8th: The Curious Incident of the Infamous Pub Crawl
So one of Tony's friends rented out a bus and we went around to 9 different breweries. Needless to say, I only made it to 4.

Mar. 13th:
Random date night at Wa Dining OKAN. A really neat spot. I would highly recommend it. Everything was really good including the uni. They have these bowls and they are super tasty. They also had a green tea cheesecake dessert which was very interesting. It was good but not what I had imagined.

Mar. 14th:
Hope all you marshmallows went out and watched Veronica Mars! I went before work. Oh man, Logan in uniform. In the words of Veronica, "You should wear this and only this forever." Raises hand. Um yes please.

Stay tuned for part 2!
